One of my episodes came back from animation missing something…

Check out this behind-the-scenes animatic to get a sneak peek at Saturday’s all new Sanjay and Craig! 10:30am ET on Nickelodeon!
New episodes of SANJAY AND CRAIG start this Saturday! Here’s an animatic clip from my first season 2 episode, “Boatin’ Down the River!” Who doesn’t like Tuvan throat singing? Tune in Saturday to see it in it’s fully animated glory!
Years ago, my friend Owen Dennis and I were talking about Star Wars and I asked him which kind of non-expanded universe ship he’d choose if he could have just one. He chose the A-Wing: a glorified Snowspeeder. He was wrong, and I told him about it. It’s all about the Y-Wing, I said. To which he replied, “Pbbfff…they’re slow." Let’s see your precious little A-Wing go from Dantooine to Alderaan on one tank of gas!
Sick! The recently updated Gross Out wall in the Sanjay & Craig studios! A couple of images from my own episodes in there too, like the old man Sanjay from OLD FARTS and the partially de-scaled Craig from an upcoming super secret Season 2 episode!
cats-can said: Ahhh! I found your blog through a reverse google image search, and just wanted to say your stuff is really, really awesome!! I'm a first year animation major, and I really admire your work a lot!
Thanks a lot! You’re too kind! I was a first year animation major once, keep at it! And your education is all about what YOU make of it, the school itself doesn’t really matter. To be honest… even though I went to a 4-year private art school for Animation, I really learned the bulk of my animation knowledge from the Internet: helpful blogs like John K’s (minus the attitude) and Sherm Cohen’s, to name a couple. Everything you need to know about the artform and the industry is there online, you just have to seek it out. Also create, create, create. Even if you make a crappy 30-second animation, you’ve still learned more and are a step ahead of those that haven’t made one yet. Failure or not, it’s the experience that counts. How’s that for unsolicited advice? I better quit while I’m ahead…
Anonymous said: You did the clay mice stop motion?! I saw this a long time ago and fell in love with it but then I lost it and I never knew who did it! By chance I found your blog sheer chance and I am ecstatic! Big fan! :3
Wow, an OG fan! :) That means a lot, I really appreciate the kind words. Thank you very much! ”Chocolate and Mices” is something I’m still pretty proud of, I’m glad others enjoy it too. Thanks for making my day, anonymous friend!
Didn’t really know what to draw… so I drew Nick. Everyone likes a bearded boy anyhoo…
My lovely girlfriend Susan Nguyen made a wonderful portrait of me, posted on her new tumblr where she’ll be selling her wares. Give it a look if you like cute stuff!
My burger gif finally uploads!
I get emails now and again from people asking to use my artwork for various things- shirts, mugs, posters. Needless to say, there’s never any mention of compensation for me, the artist. At least they asked though. I got curious today about which of my works was the most swiped, so I did some Google Image searching. Looks like my toast and toaster from 2008 is the winner… :-/ I wish I’d been signing my work at that point, something I still need to work on.
Here’s a poster I created for the upcoming 9th Ever LA Old Time Social. I’m not a designer by any means, but I had fun trying something new and experimenting! I’m also playing the fiddle at the Thursday party as half of the White Chocolate Drops!
The first episode of Sanjay and Craig I storyboarded on premieres this Saturday at 1030 on NICK! It’s called Old Farts, written and boarded by my pal Toby Jones and myself! I also did some revision work on its sister episode, Kerplunk’d (with some super funny stuff from the great Bryan Mann in there too!) Hope you like em!
Here’s a new promo video for the next batch of Sanjay and Craig episodes! The first episode I storyboarded on (with my friend Toby Jones) is in this batch, as well as a few episodes I did revisions on before I joined a board team. Great stuff coming up, hope you check it out!
